Reena has initiated a process of sharing resources within the developmental disabilities sector. For four years the agency has freely offered its staff development program to more than 50 agencies and has demonstrated that the entire community stands to benefit by the sharing of limited resources.
The mandate of the Staff Development Program is to assist staff in the development of personal and professional knowledge, expertise and skills in order to ensure optimum service delivery to individuals with developmental handicaps and their families.
The nominated program is about building communities and trust among organizations that have traditionally competed with one another for scarce resources. It is about doing more with less, about creating consistency in the quality of service provided across a sector.
