The Fitness and Health Promotion Department provides exercise programming for adults 55 years of age and older. Older adults represent a diversity of abilities and life experiences.
The current project evolved through the evaluations received after a conference on physical activity and aging dealing with exercise for the frail elderly and special populations took place.
Three video tapes were designed to address the practical issues involved in planning, designing and implementing group exercise classes for certain types of clients. These include the frail elderly, people recovering from stroke and those with Parkinson's disease. The tapes have universal methodologies and appeal to those who work in a gerontological or health-related settings and are of special interest to those who deal with these clients in institutions, retirement homes or day programs.
