The Peer Support Project is an extension of the Program Against Abuse at the community Resource Centre of Goulbourn, Kanata and West Carleton. It is a community-based volunteer program for abused women. The project is designed to broaden the range of support services available to abused women; change societal conditions that promote and condone abuse of women; and develop a Peer Support model that can be adapted and utilized by other communities throughout Canada.
Peer Support is a cost-effective approach that pulls together the experience and knowledge of survivors, the skills of front-line counsellors and the energies of the community to work collectively against abuse of women.
