P.F.I and the Adoption Unit operates computerized registers to match adult adopted persons and birth relatives desiring reunion. The project links these registries to find matches between them (e.g. the adopted person has applied to one registry and the birth relative to the other).
The project involves the creation of a computer program that will search both the Ontario government's register of some 45,000 names and an extract of the P.F.I. registry, some 15,000 names, and compile matches between these two data bases. Parties to reunion will be advised to contact P.F.I. and proceed to reunion through us or, if either party wishes, our member will be advised to apply to the government registry, and the reunion will be mediated through its program.
